Across the world, men die an average six years younger than women.  some of the reasons are preventable, meaning we can change it.

Tackling men’s health issues on a global scale is the Movember Foundation charity. They focus on three aspects of men’s health – prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

“Together we can make a difference for men’s health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.”

  • Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK. About 1 in 8 men will get it.
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15-49. 1 in 20 men lose their lives to testicular cancer and the rates have already doubled in the last 50 years.
  • Three quarters of suicides are men and 1 in 8 men in the UK have experienced a mental health problem.

There are many ways to get involved with Movember and raise awareness, from growing a mo to taking on a movement challenge. Or you could just use their website to educate yourself and spread the word. It all makes a change for men’s health.

Their website has information on all three issues prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and it even has a guide on how to check yourself for testicular cancer. Even for women it’s quite shocking to see the facts and helpful to know for your husbands, boyfriends, sons and friends.
