FitFest Oxford Celebrates International Women’s Day 2019

Today is a celebration and day to recognise how much women contribute to society, and how much women have overcome to be treated equally! International Women’s Day is a great day for raising awareness of women. Women are strong and, together, we can empower each other!

For more than 100 years, people all over the world have celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March every year. This year, the theme is ‘gender-balance’. Whether you’re able to raise awareness of the gender-balance in your workplace, your community groups or in any aspect of life, that’s another step towards awesome equality!

We’re delighted to have so many empowering women and men joining us at FitFest Oxford on 15th June. One of them is Bami, who left her full-time day job at Google to establish Bam Bam Boogie, a dance-fitness company with empowerment and fun at its core! Bami’s mission is to form fearless females around the world by sharing her story of hard work, resilience and good vibes! She explains that you should “Be the change you want to see in the world.” So take Bami’s advice, feel empowered, go out there and do something empowering today!

We’ve also been feeling super inspired by Food Fitness Flora, who completed the Tokyo Marathon 2019 just a few days ago. She showed strength, determination and dedication to what was a brilliant race.

In our recent edition of FitVine Magazine, Flora explains more about getting fitter and feeling inspired, saying, “Get outside every day for a walk. Aim for 10,000 steps. Walk outside surrounded by nature and find a sport or workout style that you love. Befriend people who support your journey and lifestyle. Get out there and don’t delay starting something great.” It’s all about gaining motivation and feeling empowered by people you respect, and using that inspiration to push yourself forward and improve.

Remember to celebrate women all over the world, not just today, but EVERY day of the year! Honour the women in your life by telling them just how inspiring they are, and just how grateful you are to have them in your life.
