Ignite Sport UK is a creative sports coaching and education provider, supporting the training and provision of sports coaching, PE and sports development. Established in 1999 by managing director, Justin Merritt, the company has developed into a leading provider.
Ignite Sport UK's primary aim is to inspire children and increase participation in all forms of sport and physical activity. Based in Oxfordshire, we provide a local delivery provision to schools in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire with a national training provision for apprenticeships and FE courses.
Our coaches work with schools to provide effective solutions to enhance the school's PE and sport provision both in school and out of school.
Ignite Sport UK also delivers community coaching programmes, elite academies, and holiday courses within its delivery arm, and works with a range of national governing bodies and community clubs.
Our primary school sector offers a range of curriculum-based PE programmes as well as coaching provision and CPD & mentoring opportunities for teachers to support the school sport premium. We support primary schools with in-school coaching and out-of-school coaching programmes.
Ignite Sport UK is a registered training provider for sport & education qualifications, working in further education, higher education, and school sixth forms.
We deliver NGB coaching qualifications, NVQs, and industry-relevant awards such as BTEC and ActivTech awards. Ignite is a registered centre for 1st4Sport and Pearson qualifications and is an education centre for The Football Association.
Our portfolio has further developed with the introduction of our sports apprenticeship programmes. Ignite Sport UK is on the register of apprenticeship training providers (RoATP) and holds a direct levy contract with the ESFA. We work in partnership with Activate Learning & Activate Apprenticeships to provide apprenticeships for non-levy organisations.
We use a blended learning approach with a combination of on-the-job training, face-to-face training, and online e-portfolios, and we support schools across the UK who employ apprentices to support the provision of sport.
