Meet The Green Box Food Co.

For the vegetarians and vegans out there, we know sometimes it can get a bit frustrating to get a fast food meal. It was imperative for us to find a company that did just that and solve a frustration for many of you.

And..we found The Green Box Food Co.! The Green Box Food Co. specialise in providing mainly vegetarian and vegan fast food!

We spoke to Ross, one of the founders of The Green Box Food Co.

When and why did you decide to set up The Green Box Food Company?

The Greenbox Food Co. was set-up in July 2017, so we are very fresh to the industry, however, it has been an idea of ours on and off for almost 4 years now. The Idea was born in Australia in 2013 when looking at their fast food options. When there, I realised as well as the classics such as Mcdonald’s and KFC, they had a good selection of healthy fast food, namely a company called sumo salads. I felt that a healthy fast food store like sumo salad would work in the UK.

Due to various reasons the idea took a back seat until winter 16/17 when we were having a BBQ with a lot of vegetarians. This was when we realised there were not many options available. Calling upon my Gran’s secret nutty recipe (that I had grown up eating) we adapted it slightly to make it more of a burger patty, and the Greenbox Original Burger was born, and the rest is history.

What are your strongest values and how are they embodied in your day to day activities?

At Greenbox one of our strongest values is we want to try and make veggie/vegan food accessible to the masses. We aim to achieve this by bridging the gap between meat eaters and veggie/vegans.

We also believe that people need to be more aware of where their food comes from, and the impact it is having on the world. We don’t want to preach that everyone needs to become veggie/vegan because we understand it can seem unappealing to many. We want to show that the ‘flexitarian’ lifestyle can be a step in the right direction. Introducing veggie/vegan meals into a couple days of your week.

What makes you unique/different?

At Greenbox we aim to rewrite the bland and boring stereotype that can be associated with a lot of vegetarian & vegan food. Every day we try to show that no matter who you are or what you eat, that everyone enjoys a bit of cheat food.

If you had to define your business with three words, what would those be?

Fresh, Future, Delicious!

What can people expect from you at FitFest Oxford?

People can expect the 3 classic Greenbox burgers; The Original, The Bean, and The Jack in the box. People can also expect new additions to the menu in the form of new sides and fresh juices.

Why are you excited to be involved in FitFest Oxford?

We’re excited to be involved with FitFest Oxford as it is a new startup like Greenbox and we love to support fellow start-ups. We also can’t wait for the people of FitFest Oxford to try our products. We feel that a lot of the attendants will believe in the Greenbox idea and love the products we provide!
